The dad discovery

After several weeks without him there, he had heard that his dad, Emperor Lucifer had returned and was no worse for wear. Rushing home to find him, expecting to be elated, he ran into the man’s arms, but his joy was short lived. He sensed something off almost instantly and while he pulled back, perplexed at how he seemed like the same man, something deep within was not right.

His father embraced him and spoke of a servant within the castle that he wanted to see rage his son before the court and how his father may even join in and help complete the sexual task with his own desires. He told Troy he would do this or he would cease to exist in this kingdom. Now he knew that this man was in fact not his father at all, and seemed to be an imposter. But why?

He had thought to go to his grandfather or mother for help, but with no one else suspecting him not to be the real Lucifer, what chance did he have? It was in no time that his brothers and sisters had fallen under the man’s spell but Troy alone seemed immune to his charms, or lack thereof. They frolicked in his bed with him for days on end while Troy needed answers.

Remembering his connection to the gatekeeper of the abyss, he brought him several bouquets of long stemmed red roses and pleaded for his help. The gatekeeper never let anyone past, and surely not without a price to be paid but he was desperate to have his real father back. He advised Troy that he would not like what he found. The boy would take that chance.

The gate was opened to him and the gatekeeper told him the only way back was to survive the nine circles of hell, alone. Troy would need all his strength and wits about him, relying on what his father had taught him. Within a startling second, he was sucked into the abyss and yet refused to cry out, although he was afraid of the unknown here. He had called for a long time before coming to realize ground beneath his feet.

In the distance was a large castle with seven gates. When he approached, he was told he was not allowed here. “I have come to find my father and I am not leaving without him.” The dark figures on horseback surrounded him. “This is limbo. Your father in below the ninth circle. If you wish to stay, I am sure the people here would love to dine on your flesh.” Troy stepped back. “Scare tactics? Is that all you have? I will not be lost to limbo. I am the son of Lucifer.” Taking a vial from his neck, he smashed it on the ground at their feet and the flash of light made all the horses draw upward. They vanished in a fiery smoke and Troy started to fall again.

He learned quickly though. The sensation of falling was false. It was only a shift in time and space and he found himself on the second level of hell. Bodies everywhere, all in stages of lustful play. The most beautiful men Troy had ever seen all came and tempted him but he walked through them, refusing to look back on their scene. His goal was clear and he was not going to be swayed. Making it through without a thought to himself, he again felt the fall.

Where he was next reeked of a vile stench of food and puke and on the ground he saw fat stuffed people writhing around in it. They all reached for him as he was passing and he had to move quickly while holding his breath not to suffer from their fate. He felt he could be taken down with them and if his feet touched their fate, he would fail.

Another fall.

The next area was strange. It was filled with stuff. Shiny objects in states of disrepair. They had a hell for furniture, he wondered. Then things began to move. Man hoarding their treasures were forced to move their lot of stuff as it kept crushing them for all eternity. A pile of unclaimed treasure laid waiting for him, but he knew the treasure he was after.

Passing another test, he went on to the next.

The river Styx and a sea filled with angry souls of the dead. This would be a tougher challenge for him. He was not dead and yet had to cross over. He also had no coins for the boatman. For a long moment, he stood there, pondering this particular puzzle out. Then it dawned on him. Troy was a shapeshifter. One of the best of his kind and could become any type of creature he had seen. The best now would be a winged creature but he saw none like that here. An intense heat rose above the river and would kill anything that dare tried to fly over it. The people were dead but he could not be dead. Or could he?

The only safe one here was the boatman. If he was bones and a robe, he could not perish. Grabbing his bag, he brought out a cloak and shifted. Then he hovered just over the water’s edge. He felt no repercussions. Floating up higher, he made his own way across and once on the other side, fell again before he changed back.

Once back to himself, he went on, now seeing people in tombs of fire, screaming out but not ever dying. They were heretics and begged Troy to touch them and release them. They even said they could get him to his father quickly but he did not believe them and fought his way through without being touched.

The next place had three divisions, each looking more horrific than the last. Such insane amounts of rage and anger here. Troy felt it consuming him as his anger raged strong inside. He was fighting it with all his strength but the anger sucked him in and he was being pulled somewhere. He felt he was losing the battle and would not make it until he thought of his dad. “In the face of adversity, show compassion and remember love, son.” Troy smiled, remembering his father and the gripped held over him was weak now. He turned anger to compassion and love, instilling the inner peace into the energy here until he was sent away in a rush.

He had made it through seven layers, and not without a toll on his strength, but he had to remember his goal. Rescue dad.

The next level seemed almost calm. That seemed confusing until he was spotted and men clambered all around him. The tried to offer him things. Worldly possessions, life long fame, wealth beyond his dreams. Every direction there was a new pitch. Eternal beauty, a king amongst the Gods, his own kingdom. They tried to steal everything on him and Troy was pushing them away. Finally he slammed his fist to the dirt, knocking them all back within a ring of fire. “I am the son of Lucifer. You have nothing of interest to bargain with me for. If anything, it is me who could change your fate, not the other way around.”

The men seemed eager, almost too much so, to sit and listen to him and learn from him. They pleaded for his wisdom but then he realized he could not have ego now. It would make him like the others, offering things they fraudulently could not provide. Once aware of that, the ground below him shook and he fell to the ninth ring of hell.

The realm of treachery. No one tried to seduce him here. No one even paid him any mind. Most all were frozen in hot ice. Beyond it, just in the center was a cereus looking creature but truly grotesque to say the very least. He was formidable and terrifying to look upon but Troy had made it this far. He would stand his ground.

The beast rose from a throne of sorts. He stood on hind legs and was several feet taller than even the largest demon the boy had ever seen. His voice shook the place when he spoke and sounded like three voices talking all together. “You are not brave to come here. You are a fool and weak. You’re a puny little child, whining for his father. You were sent a father. Go, be with him and leave this place while I allow you to.”

“Allow me?” Troy smirked. He knew he was in over his head here but he could not back down after having come so far. “I want my real father!!”

“What do you care? He looks the same and will give into your selfish wants, fucking you until you can barely see straight. NOW LEAVE.”

“NOOOO.” Troy yelled angrily back, his fists clenched. “I have faced my demons and my challenges and I will have what I came for.”

The beast came forth, trampling bodies beneath massive feet. His nostrils breathed out hot over Troy’s skin to near blistering. “You are a selfish emotional wreck. You think saving a man no more virtuous then yourself will make you some kind of hero? Do you think he’d be proud that his son died a fool before me?”

“Your eyes shall never bear witness to my demise.” Troy slid down under the beast and came up behind him, scaling it’s back. He wrestled with each head and a small dagger, removing the eyes of the beast. It was like riding the bucking bronco or something. He held onto scales for his balance until every last eye was gone. Then he jumped from the beast, running for it’s throne and stood on it shouting. “Come get me, if you can you disgusting creature.” He knew the beast would try to charge him and when he did, Troy jumped down to the side. The beast went up the throne and over into an abyss all it’s own, bursting into flames.

For a long moment, nothing happened and Troy wondered where he was supposed to go. The chamber started to crumble and fall around him. All manner of creatures were falling into the abyss beyond and Troy was left wondering if this was the only door out. On blind faith, he closed his eyes and called out to his father. “I will find you.” He jumped into the abyss beyond the throne, falling for so long he lost consciousness.

Part 2

When Troy awoke, he was being tended to by people who he could not see. He didn’t understand until he saw the gatekeeper and he was smiling at him; an expression Troy had never seen him make. “How? No one has ever gone through those realms and lived except for one other.” Troy spoke softly. “My father.” The gatekeeper nodded. “It is not your bravery or your skills alone that got you through. You never lost faith in love. Your father should be so proud of you. Come, sit by the fire. I have something to tell you. You may not like it, but you deserve the truth.”

Troy got off the bed, taking a blanket and sat closer to the man he had come to like even more. “Even here, where people… angels have fallen and lost their grace, one call still lose grace. Your father was taken for reasons only he can tell you and he was tortured in ways he would not want his son knowing. That said, he has his pride so I would not speak of it with him. If he chooses to, he will tell you someday.”

The gatekeeper poured soup from a cauldron into a bowl for the boy. “Your father sent the other man in haste. He was not right for your family but he wanted you all to be safe. They had not been given the chance to duplicate him fully before the man was sent above. We dissolved him. When you return, a new father will be there in his place. Your father wants this for you.”

Troy shook his head and set the bowl down. “No, I only want him. I cannot love a fake replacement.” The gatekeeper understood but held the boy’s shoulder. “Your father was stripped of his title. That can happen. He chose to leave before any harm came to anyone. It was his grace to you. He was allowed to keep his first name as it is less than a name and more of a symbol of his rank. However, his last name is changed and he will not be returning to you. I’m sorry. And trust me, I never say that.”

Troy got more indignant. “Then I shall go to him.” The gatekeeper stopped him. “That is not wise. He sent a man to replace himself for you. Troy. Your father is not as you remember him. Remember him as he was.” Troy was worried. “I need to see him. Now.” He stood and crumbled to his feet. He was injured and needed time to heal. The gatekeeper waved his hand and Troy was back in bed and covered. He walked over to him. “You stayed alive. I suppose for that, you could see him just this once.”

Part 3

The gatekeeper left the room and the ones he couldn’t see were gone too. He was alone now and left to wonder. What had they done with his father? Why was he not coming back? His father always told him, trust no one. What was happening here? And where was his father being kept?

Unable to really walk, he laid back, resting his eyes a moment and imagining all the possibilities. His mind scoured for answers. It seemed only a moment had passed but it was longer than he knew. A touch to his arm woke him and his father, his ‘real’ father was at his side. “DAD!!” Troy leaned up and hugged him tight. This was really his dad now. He felt it. His arms held around him and he cried tears of joy. For the longest time, he just held him, afraid to let go in case it all vanished.

Dad eased him back and smiled at his son. “You shouldn’t have come, but I am so proud of you. I can’t say as anyone has ever shown as much love for you as you have these past few days. You upset the order of hell itself and now they know my son is strong. But love, I want you to return to your family.”

Troy looked shocked and shook his head. “No, keep me here with you. I need you. I’m nothing without you.” He began to cry and dad lifted his chin. “Never say that. You are stronger than you know. I have to live a different life. Maybe someday I will earn my right again to take my rightful place and be there with you. My enemies would love for me to fail and without you there to protect the family too, the women would be at the mercy of our enemies. Our family is turning, divisive on so many levels. There are traitors even within the home. I need you there to keep an eye on things. Make sure the La Mara name is not dragged into the mud. And help this man who is in my place to lead you all. I need you to behave like he is your father. You do not have to be as close as we are, but for all due purposes, he is your father now.”

Troy shook his head. “You’re my father.” Lucifer sighed. “You know what I mean, Troy. Please. For me. Be my strong son.” Troy was not emotionally well at all with this. “I need you though. Please, let me come see you then. Let me know that you want to see me still. I can’t give you up.” He crumbled into dad’s arms and Lucifer held him, petting his hair. “You really can’t, can you?” Lucifer sighed. “It’s not a great idea but… I want this too. If I gave you a way to come to me each Saturday and spend time with just me, would you be my strong boy and return home?” Troy lifted his head and nodded. “I can…. I can try. I just need you.”

Lucifer took off a necklace over his head. He turned it and put it around his son’s neck. “Every Saturday from now on, you go off by yourself and hold the charm in your hand. And you say, take me to my father.” Troy looked perplexed. “Trust me, it will work.” He assured. “Son, scoot over.” He nudged his son over and then laid behind him, holding him like he used to as a boy. He played with his hair. “I’m staying till you’re well. Then you will go home and not speak of any of this. Tell no one. No one needs to think I am hidden away and come looking for me. And don’t let others be around when you use that to come to me. My life is free from the drama there used to be, but if others suspected anything, I could be hunted. That is why you must let people think I never left. Keep me safe. Right now, I’ll keep you safe.”

That said, he wrapped himself tight around his son, using his talents to heal him faster so he could leave before morning and let Troy return home.

Explanation:

So, as some of you already know, I was hit pretty hard about dad not being here and was looking to get him back into the role. The role instead went to someone else who was ultimately not a good fit for the family. Now, the reigns have been handed off again to someone new and I hope someone will stick around in the part. I put this out there because in the meantime, I have found my dad in both face and similar name, yet in another kingdom. Having him back meant everything to me and I wanted him to reclaim his throne. Apparently, things are better for many involved if they stay this way for now. My dad is now drama free from the excess hatred and maybe the rest of the family will calm with this new person coming in. The role, while one of the better ones here, is also a hating ground for the writer, be it my real dad, or for the last writer that tried to fill his shoes. This is pathetic to me that so many just hate on the character without giving the writer a chance. The last guy was a skilled writer but hatred and no one writing much with him made him go.

All that aside, some people have mentioned to my mom that there cannot be duplicates of characters and that I cannot have both Lucifers in my list. First of all, they have different last names and are in different kingdoms. Also, I have written a detailed backstory as to why Troy will have not only his real father, but to also get to know his new-writer dad as well with equality. I am sorry if that does not make anyone happy here, but my loyalties are extremely strong and I will not abandon my father. Nor will I create any wedge between myself and the La Mara family. You can accept the story I have written or not, but do not ask again for me to live without my dad. I would never keep any person away from another, even if I detested them. If it makes you not wish to write with me, I will suffer those consequences.

I hope this finds you all doing well and not having anyone waste time bothering into your storylines.
